The Miracles of Benzoyl Peroxide Benzoyl peroxide is an antiseptic. It reduces the number of surface skin bacteria, but does not cause bacterial resistance to antibiotics, making it safe for long term use. Benzoyl peroxide is also an oxidizing agent and it drains comedones (mild acne) on the skin surface and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Simply put, Benzoyl Peroxide on its own is a good treatment, but those products that offer three-step kits far excel in overall effectiveness and continual prevention. The properties of benzoyl peroxide make it extremely useful in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. The anti-inflammatory properties will reduce swelling in infected papules and pustules, allowing a relief from the soreness that often accompanies acne outbreaks. The oxidizing factor dries out the thickened sebum or fluid within the acne and helps to alleviate the plugged pores, so that acne may heal without trauma to the area caused by popping the acne. |

Things to look out for when using Benzoyl Peroxide: - A 5-10% concentration can dry out
the treated area, so be sure to use 2.5%. If the skin is visibly scaly,
apply a light, non-oily moisturizer. Truderma contains 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide. Dermatologists agree that Benzoyl Peroxide, one of the main ingredients in Truderma, is highly effective. First, a 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream acts as an exfoliator, gently removing the excess layer of dead skin on the surface. Second, a toner solution should be applied gently to cleanse the pores of impurities that cause acne. Lastly, again, a 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream should be applied and left on the skin to kill the P. acnes bacteria and keep it form coming back. We have developed a product that fits the bill perfectly. Many dermatologists agree, use of a product like Truderma may allow you to remain acne-free for the rest of your life. When using a toner, one should wash thoroughly but gently with the product once or twice daily as directed. A small amount should be applied, not just to the outbreaks themselves, but to the entire face. Avoid getting the toner in the eyes, mouth or nose. If contact is made with these sensitive areas, flush gently with water and contact a physician if inflammation or irritation continues. While using benzoyl peroxide, you should make sure to look for a 2.5% product (like Truderma) as 5-10% Benzoyl peroxide may dry out the skin. It could also take up to 3 to 4 weeks to see a noticeable effect of the medication. Initial results can typically be expected within 2 weeks. > Continue to the next question > Why take preventative measures? Order Truderma™ Now or call (866)-486-0421 |
