Acne is a disorder resulting from the over-secretion of skin's oil glands (sebaceous glands), which leads to plugged pores and outbreaks of lesions commonly called pimples or zits. It is well-known this can be caused by hereditary factors, environmental factors, and hormonal factors.
Most forms of acne lesions usually occus on the face, neck, back, and shoulders. These are all body parts where oil glands are more active and skin has more pores. These pores are the holes where body hair comes through a very narrow canal in the upper layer of skin. The oil glands around these pores secret an oily substance called sebum. This sebum squeezes through the pore to come out on the surface of the skin. At times, this opening gets choked with excessive amounts of sebum (which is caused by hormonal imbalance), or with grime collected over our skin.
